Romantic Spots for Valentine’s Day in Seattle – Chez Shea

In November, George and I celebrated our Ten-Year Anniversary!  He surprised me with a beautiful dinner at a wonderful little restaurant called Chez Shea.  It was wonderful – dim lighting, candles everywhere, about 10 tables.  A very intimate and romantic setting.  Plus the service and food was wonderful.

When I got there, we were greeted and taken to our table, which came complete with chocolates and flowers.  George told them what he wanted and they purchased it and had it waiting for us at the table.  We sat down and the couple next to us wished us a Happy Anniversary.  They were also celebrating their anniversary!

Chez Shea is an amazing restaurant and their food is really good!  I had never eaten at a French restaurant before, so was really excited to try it out.  We had the opportunity to visit when they were featuring their “Dine Around Seattle” Menu – something I’d love to explore again when it happens!  We ordered a Three Course Menu for $30 per person and it was amazing!!!

For the appetizer, we both chose the Braised Lamb Belly.  At first, I was hesitant to order it, just because I’d never had it before.  Then I figured, what the heck, it’s new, I’ll give it a try.  I am so glad I decided to try it because it was so good.  I ate it all!  The Braised Lamb Belly included Baguette Toast, Soft Boiled Egg, and Lamb Jus.  It was really good!  I’d give it a 5 out of 5 if I were scoring for taste and a 5 out of 5 if I were scoring for presentation.

For the Entree, I chosen the Columbia River Sturgeon.  It came with Spanish Chorizo, Chiogga Beets, Mustard Greens, and Satsuma Brown Butter Vinaigrette.  This was also very tasty!  I would score this dish a 4 out of 5 for taste and 5 out of 5 for presentation.  I was really enjoying my meal by this point and was so impressed with Chez Shea.

George ordered the New York Strip Steak, which came with Glazed Winter Vegetables and Warm Fingerling Potato Salad.  I tried his steak and could not believe how tender and tasty it was!  I would score it 5 out of 5 for taste and 4 out of 5 for presentation.  I was really satisfied at this point but it was still time for dessert.

For dessert, I chose to order Vanilla Creme Brulee.  Oh my goodness!  It was so good!  It was perfect!  I ate all of it (with the exception of the 2 bites I shared with George – lol).  I had never had Creme Brulee before, but after tasting this, would love to have it again some time soon.  I give it a 5 out of 5 for taste and 5 out of 5 for presentation.

For dessert, George ordered the Warm Apple Tart.  This was also really tasty!  He really loved the Apple tart.  From what I tasted, I would give it a 4 out of 5 and would score it a 5 out of 5 for presentation!

George and I had a great time and were definitely impressed with Chez Shea all together.  The service was excellent.  The food was divine.  The atmosphere was romantic.  I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a place to celebrate an anniversary, Valentine’s Day, a birthday, or just to enjoy fine French Cuisine.  Special thanks to our server (right), as well as to Lotta (manager – left) and Ben Knutsen (chef – center).  I can’t wait to go back to Chez Shea again!

Thank you Chez Shea!  We’ll be back again soon!

***If you are looking to take someone to Chez Shea over the Valentine’s Day weekend, I would call or visit online ASAP and make a reservation.  Because it’s such an intimate setting with a small number of tables, reservations will fill up fast!***

  1. Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary. Sounds like your hubby picked the perfect place to take you!

What a wonderful 10th anniversary evening for you and your hubby!!! That food looks simply amazing(your descriptions and pictures just adds to the mouthwatering-ness). I love the fact that you can have them pick up whatever you wanted for the table like your husband did with the flowers and chocolate-THAT is service if ever I heard of some 🙂

  3. What a wonderful experience. We had dinner at a French Bistro for Valentine’s Day and I also had Creme Brule for dessert – I adore it (and shared FOUR bites with Bill, he shared 4 bites of his crepes with me). Your presentation was definitely better than ours, but we ate SO much more food (and it cost a heck of a lot more). How sweet of George to get you flowers and chocolate (of course) also.
    He’s a keeper!!
