10 Tips for Creating A Fun Family Vacation
Going on vacation can be fun but challenging with little kids. Here are my 10 tips for creating a fun family vacation!
1) Sing fun songs together with your little ones – Wheels on the bus, She’ll be Coming Around the Mountain, and others
2) Play “I Spy” with your kids on a long road trip. We love to play the “I Spy” Game with our kids in the car. I spy something green – a tree. Or I spy something yellow – a sign. The kids love it and time flies by
3) Take lots of pictures. Your kids will love to look back on these pictures….or at them on your camera right after you take them – lol!
4) Bring games with you on your vacation. My kids love to play Candyland and the Curious George Discovery Beach Game.
5) Bring snacks they like. Part of keeping kids (and daddies) happy is making sure they have food to eat. Bring snacks like goldfish, dried apricots, trail mix, or other tasty treats.
6) Teach your kids about their surroundings, especially if you visit historical sites. Don’t be afraid to go for a walk around the city, on the beach, or on the lake. You’ll get exercise, bond with your child, and enjoy your surroundings all at the same time!
7) Let them get out and stretch. If you are on a long road trip, be sure to pull over and let the kids stretch and get their wiggles out.
8) Bring a favorite toy for them to play with on the trip. Being in an unfamiliar setting can be scary for kids, so it helps for them to have something they are familiar with that brings them comfort.
9) Visit family friendly spots. If you have young kids, choose a family friendly place to visit. Look for suites near anaheim convention center so that you don’t bore them with long car trips to the activities you have planned for the day. And naturally, make sure those places will be ultimately fun and enjoyable for them. For instance, you won’t want to take your kids into a Crystal or Antique store, but stopping by the Ice Cream Parlor would be a fun treat! If your family loves adventure, then you may consider visiting Zion National Park and staying at zion national park hotels. You may also consider a skydive adventure for your family!
10) Tickle them and give them lots of hugs and kisses. Make your trip fun for them. Build your relationship with your kids and have a great time as a family!

You have some awesome idea~ great ones, as a matter of fact! My boys are now teens and we traveled a lot when out kids were younger. Boy, did you write a little article about our family? I can so relate- traveling with kids can be fun- and remember to be FLEXIBLE…….. Enjoyed your post.
Those are all great ideas for a family trip, especially if the kids are little ones! Although if my sister and I get bored enough, we will play the ‘I spy’ or the ‘license plate’ game 🙂

One idea under the pictures category. I s to always take a picture with the family and the name of the spot you are traveling to. For example when we went to Seaside last year we wrote Seaside 2009 in the sand on the beach and stood in front of it. When we go to Disneyland we always take a picture at the front entry where disney is spelled out in front of the train station. At Whistler I brought food coloring and wrote Whistler in the snow.
everytme we go on a long car ride….usually to florida which is 18 hours i like to buy my kids a new dvd each, make them a cd with their fave music and if they r lucky a new video game

I like to have everything planned before we start on our trips. I make sure we leave super early so that way the kids can sleep in the car for a little bit but that way were not crunched for time. If we see something we want to do on our trip we have time to stop and we don’t have to rush. Rushing around really stresses out our kids and especially my husband.
These are great tips that you posted. I would like to find some games for my kids that are easy to travel with so that way they aren’t watching DVD’s the whole time.
