Cook's HamsI love to make and eat ham!  It is family tradition to have Ham for Christmas Dinner, as well as various times throughout the year.  Thanks to Cook’s Ham, we had the opportunity to try out one of their Spiral Sliced Honey Hams (with the bone in of course).  I remember growing up and being excited when we had a colorful, foil-wrapped ham to eat.  Those were the GOOD hams!  I still have the same frame of mind as an adult.  They really are that good!

Cook's Spiral Sliced Honey HamThere are some really great links on Cook’s Ham’s website.  Check out Ham TV, where you’ll find great tips and recipes in audio and video format.  Learn more about Holiday Appetizers or Recipes you can use during the holidays.  Also be sure to check out the recipes and holiday ideas on Cook’s website.  You’ll be in for a real treat, as well the people eating your dishes.

Cook's Honey HamMy personal favorite is Cook’s Spiral Sliced Honey Ham.  The ham is so tender and juicy and the flavor is just amazing.  Plus you can make amazing Ham and Bean Soup with the bone and leftover meat, among other recipes.  This time around, I purchased a Half size, which serves between 15-20 guests.  These are available in Hickory, Honey, Brown Sugar, and Maple (coming soon)!  Cook’s Spiral Sliced, Bone-In Hams are becoming more and more popular for year-round entertaining and everyday meals, in addition to their status as an established holilday tradition.  Cook’s is dedicated to using natural ingredients in the curing process, as well as using authentic, old-world, hickory-wood smoking, which helps to create a flavor that is unforgettable.  The ready-to-use liquid glaze and dipping sauce is included with every Spiral Sliced Ham.

Ham leftovers?!? No such critter! 🙂 Seriously, we LOVE ham and there is rarely anything left to use in other recipes. But I can usually scrape up enough to shred into other dishes. One favorite is ramen noodles with ham. Ham adds so much flavor to even the blandest dishes!

Ok this may sound strange, but I promise it is absolutely delicious. I cover the ham with Yellow Mustard, Brown Sugar and Pineapple Slices. Then I pour about half of a 2 liter of Pepsi over the ham. Cover the ham with a tent of tinfoil and cook in a low oven. I think it is for 12 minutes per pound. In just a few hours the house smells wonderful and my mouth is watering. MMmmmm.

Recently I used leftover ham and the broth for a corn chowder. I chopped up yukon gold potatoes and onions and let them simmer with the ham, broth, and a little extra water. Added some frozen sweet corn and a little pepper and salt to taste, and then finally added 2 cans of evaporated milk and let it simmer down to a good consistency. Very rich and creamy! Thanks for this giveaway!

  214. A great recipe for using leftover ham is slice potatoes, cut up ham, and put them in a crockpot. Then add cream of chicken soup and cheese. Let cook for about 4-5 hours and you will know it’s done when potatoes are soft. Easy, yummy, filling, and perfect for a cold day!

Our favorite recipe and the kids just love it:

Spaghetti with Peas and Ham in Cream Sauce

    10-12 ounces Spaghetti
    1/2 cup butter
    1 large onion
1/4 pound ham, cut into thin strips about 1 inch
    1 cup frozen peas, cooked
    1/4 cup light cream
    1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    salt and pepper

Cook Spaghetti to box directions. Drain well. While pasta is cooking, melt butter in a pan, add the onion and cook about 3 minutes or until soft. Add the ham strips and peas and cook and addtional 5 minutes. Add the drained Spaghetti into the pan, stir well and add the cream and most of the shredded cheese. Mixing gently, season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle on remaining cheese, serves 4.
