Twas the Night Before Christmas
Oh no, it’s already here?
There is still so much wrapping
Before the sun does soon appear.

The stockings are hung by the fireplace with care
Awaiting the goodies that soon will be there.
The children are nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of presents dance through their heads.

Out come the scissors, wrapping paper, and tape
Grab all the gifts and don’t forget the superhero cape!
One hour goes by, two hours..oh no!
Is it possible that I’m tired and going really slow?

Last present done….hooray, hooray!
Oh wait, I forgot, another gift is put away!
I wrap one more gift…more quickly this time.
Stick on the tag and hear the clock ring its chime!

No chocolate chip cookies and milk did appear
For Santa is on a diet in our house this year.
He slips a few presents under the tree
And whispers “Merry Christmas” to our family.

  7. Really good! It was us this year, too. I am usually done really early every year, but with my kids’ visits and my surgery, I got SO behind. It was 8:30PM Christmas Eve and Bill came downstairs (he was wrapping my gifts upstairs 🙂 ) and said, “Hey, we forgot to eat dinner!”
