“The Young Victoria” Movie Review
I am so excited! I was invited to attend a screening this week in downtown Seattle of the upcoming movie, “The Young Victoria.” It stars Emily Blunt (Devil Wears Prada) and is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée. The movie is written by Academy Award Winner Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park) and produced by a team including Graham King (The Departed), Martin Scorsese, Tim Headington and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. The film has already received international acclaim! The movie will begin opening in select theaters beginning December 18th – that’s this week!!
In The Young Victoria, Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada) stars as Queen Victoria in the turbulent first years of her reign. Rupert Friend (Pride & Prejudice) portrays Prince Albert, the suitor who wins her heart and becomes her partner in one of history’s greatest romances. This love story, set amongst all the intrigue of the court, also features Paul Bettany (Iron Man, The Da Vinci Code), Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), Jim Broadbent (The Damned United, The Chronicles of Narnia), Thomas Kretschmann (Valkyrie), and Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, Tristan & Isolde). “The Young Victoria” is rated PG and runs for 104 minutes.
I had not heard of the movie before this opportunity. However, as soon as I watched the trailer, I knew it was a movie I would want to see! You’ll be hearing more about the movie and my thoughts later this week. Be sure to check out the site and see what you think of the movie!
THE REVIEW
I was really excited to have a chance to go and have a date night with my husband, but I was even more excited to see “The Young Victoria” after watching the trailer. I was a little nervous, knowing that it was about history, but I can honestly say that the movie was AMAZING! The actors (all of them) did an awesome job! My husband and I found that we didn’t want the movie to end – we wanted more!!! HINT: Hopefully there will be a Mid-Life Victoria? There were some really romantic parts in the movie, as well as lighthearted moments, funny moments, and moments that had me in tears. This is definitely a movie I would see again. I will be purchasing this movie when it comes to DVD to add to my romantic collection.
I give “The Young Victoria” 5 out of 5 stars! This is a must-see movie!!!
I received complimentary admission to the movie, “The Young Victoria,” for myself and one guest from Press Representatives of the movie so that I could review the movie and write this post. Opinions in this post are 100% mine!
Hmmm thanks for the review. I have only seen a few things about this movie, and not sure it was one my hubby would actually go with me to, but now I am intrigued and I want to see it now.
Looks amazing! I’m a fan of interpretive historical movies and I’d love to see this.
I’m so glad you loved it… I cannot wait to see it. I hope my hubby will want to take me, if not, I’ll have to wait until it comes out on DVD.
Thanks for the review, and I’m glad you had a nice date night with your man.
Yay, this one is my favorite!!! I love it! 😀
