Scholastic logoI remember growing up with Scholastic books.  Do you remember the newspaper flyers you would go home with and choose the books you most wanted?  Or the book fairs at school?  I was actually just at one of the book fairs for my son who is in Kindergarten.  It may have been more fun for me than him – not sure? LOL  Scholastic has come out with some really cute book for the holidays!  Thanks to Scholastic, I received 2 wonderful Christmas books, that my family and I can enjoy reading this holiday season.  The books I received are called  The Christmas Magic and The Nutcracker and The Mouse King.  The artwork is beautiful in both works and the stories are beautiful.

Scholastic Christmas magic book coverThe Christmas Magicis a book about the magic that is present at Christmas time.  Here is what the inside cover says: “Far, far north, when the nights are longest and stars shine brightest, the spirit of Christmas fills the air with magic.  Santa gathers his reindeer, feeds them parsnips and berries, and polishes his bells and his sled.  Them, with great care, he chooses toys for every child in the world.  For Santa loves them all dearly – and he knows what each child’s heart desires most.”  Lauren Thompson did a beautiful job with this story and Jon Muth’s artwork is amazing!  Both you and your kids will love reading about Santa, reindeer, Christmas, sleds, snow, and more.  Christmas is not about getting, but about giving and this is a great story about this time of year.  Check out The Christmas Magic today!  It retails for $16.99 at local bookstores and online.

Scholastic Nutcrack Book CoverThe Nutcracker And The Mouse Kingis another wonderful holiday book!  I loved going to The Nutcracker (the musical) growing up and was excited to read it in story format as an adult.  It’s also a beautiful holiday story with wonderful artwork.  The inside cover reads: “On Christmas Eve, Godfather Drosselmeier has arrived with gifts of marvel and enchantment for his young godchildren.  Goddaughter Marie falls in love with a bewitching nutcracker doll and claims him as her own.  Yet when the clock strikes midnight, something terribly amazing happens to Godfather’s handcrafted toys….they come alive.  Marie is swept off her feet on an incredible journey with the Nutcracker in this astonishing classic story by E.T.A. Hoffman.”  Check out The Nutcracker and The Mouse King today!  The book retails for $18.99 in local bookstores and online.

Thanks to Scholastic, 2 lucky readers on The Mommy-Files will win a copy of each book!!!

I LOVE Scholastic… I remember bringing home book orders throughout Elementary school. In 2nd grade, we ordered so many books each time my teacher was earning loads of free books for the classroom. He would always put in little extra stickers with our order to say thank you! My friend just recently brought over her daughters book orders and my heart melted seeing those same thin paper ads filled with fun books just waiting to be read!

As a beginning teacher, I used to love it when we would have a Scholastic Book Fair in our Library each year. The only problem is that it would cost me some money as they always had various learning items and not just books that were wonderful.

  56. I have raised 4 children who are grown and on their own. I had so many fun taking them to the Scholastic books fairs while they were in school. Also when they brought home their scholastic book order forms from school. We would all sit down together and go thru all the order forms and circle the books they were getting. So much excitement when they brought their scholastic book orders home and we then sat down again reading. I have a 7 yr old now, and we are able to enjoy scholastic once more. Great company!

  88. I remember specifically in about the third grade it being a big deal that we got to go to the book fair, and that they had a TON of Laura Ingalls books. this would be around the same time as our class was reading Tuck Everlasting…..I remember my mom making me pick between the Little House books and just being devastated I couldnt get them all.
Part of me has to wonder, the cost of the books couldnt have been then near what it is now, were we really in the shape I couldnt have spent 10$ and got more than the one book? I know I went to my kids week before last and spent 70$ but we got 9 books and a clifford stuffed animal….overall not bad.
I totally love Scholastic, the book fairs and the flyers….where else can you get cute books for a DOLLAR???

  98. As a teacher, Scholastic is a very important part of my life. I use scholastic products on a daily basis. The great thing for teachers is the points we accrue when families purchase books. Our school uses the points collectively, not as individual teachers. With those points, we have a full lab of materials that teachers can utilize and check out from. It’s amazing!
