Butterball Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway
I love Thanksgiving and I love my Butterball Turkeys every year. Every year, since growing up, I’ve had a Butterball Turkey at Thanksgiving time! There is just something about the juices and tender meat that you get from a Butterball Turkey. Sorry, had to grab a napkin because I was drooling all over the place!!
Last year, we had a Butterball Turkey and I basted it with the butter and juices while it was in the oven. It was complete with stuffing inside the bird. Oh man, it was so tender and juicy! I can’t wait to make my Butterball Turkey again this year! My boys loved it and even said I did a good job cooking it. That’s always a great compliment considering they can be picky eaters at times. We served our turkey complete with Homemade Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Green Bean Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole, Cranberry Relish, Rolls, and Pumpkin Pie at the end. My family LOVES Butterball!!!
One of my favorite recipes is Homemade Mashed Potatoes with Gravy. You cut up some Russet potatoes and then either boil them or steam them in the Microwave with a little bit of water. You then mash them up with a potato masher or in a Kitchen Aid. When mixing, be sure to add some Mayonnaise, Garlic Salt, Milk, and Butter. Waalah! You have super yummy Homemade Mashed Potatoes!

Ohhh… I love Thanksgiving!!! 🙂 As a kid we would always go over to my Grandparents house and play with all the cousins! I remember one year it was really snowy so we all played outside and got in a snowball fight! There was another year when my sweet Pastry Chef Grandpa didn’t cook the Turkey completely. There was DEFINITELY leftovers that year! 😛 Bleck!!!

one year my mom dropped the cooked turkey on the floor. She cleaned it off and no one ever knew. Another year she had me BBQ it (I was 15) but she forgot to fully defrost it so we cut off pieces as they were cooked

One of our favorites is Shrimp Salad
cooked shell pasta
Add diced celery, onion, pickles, pimento, mayo and drained shrimp bits.
Salt and pepper to taste.
It doesn’t last long in our house.

OHhh best recipe Broccoli Casserole MY way
Fresh Broccoli cut in sections and pieces ( may use 2 bags of frozen broccoli but fresh is better)
Velveeta chees ( too taste, if you like a lot us a lot lol)
Sal and pepper
Crushed Ritz crackers
one can of cream of mushroom soup
one can of cream of chicken soup
1 cup of milk
combine teh milk and soup and stir until mixed
add cheese that has been cut into small cubes or strips
add broccoli
mix all ingredients finally adding the Ritz crackers and salt and pepper to taste.
Place in a smaller casserole dish, nothign too big that it spread out and not to thick that it takes forever to cook.. place in 400 degree oven for 45 minutes to a hour, test for tenderness of broccoli.. You may also take it out and completely stur ingredients together again in the middle of the cooking process..

our favorite part of Thanksgiving is the candied yams (sweet potatoes). It’s really very easy if you’re careful… Peel and cut the yams (careful comes in here… it’s not like peeling/chopping regular potatoes! Yams/sweet potatoes are hard!) Soak the pieces in water overnight in fridge. We heat up the elec. skillet and melt butter/margarine and start adding brown sugar slowly letting it melt stirring frequently. Drain yams and add them to the sugar mix. (Yams should be covered in ‘fluid’ at this point) Turn heat down and let them simmer, stirring occasionally. Add more br. sugar as it cooks. When yams are soft, it’s ready!
I can’t tell you how many people have come over for holiday meals saying they don’t like candied sweet potatoes… they leave raving about ‘real’ sweet potatoes… We refuse to use the canned mush that is so common…
oh… and a word of warning… you know you got too much sugar when someone bites into it and their teeth get stuck… (usually my husband… lol) and pack up leftovers in a single serve size… you won’t be able to scoop out a snack for one when it’s cold…

Every year my mom fixes a huge Thanksgiving dinner,complete with turkey but it never fails as it is sitting on the stove “resting” we walk by and pull off a littl piece of crispy skin to eat,now this sounds harmless unless you account for the fact that now there are about 25 of us in total so by the time it is to be served it is naked,lol,she always fusses but she knows we are going to do it and we always have!She and my dad are in their mid 70’s now so we cherish all these thanksgivings and memories.
The first year I was cooking Thanksgiving on my own I had been married for 5 months and we moved from Idaho to Arizona so I could attend college. So I was away from home and I thought I could do it on my own! Long story short I didn’t know that the giblets were inside the turkey…we got a nasty surprise when we opened the turkey. Needless to say we had to order pizza. I was pretty embarrassed luckily our guests canceled at the last minute so it was something my husband and I could laugh about it. Luckily my parents moved down here last year so we can rely on mom’s cooking!

My parents had my grandparents over for Thanksgiving dinner when they first bought their house and my Mom had not cooked in her new stove. She ended up locking the Turkey in the oven. They could not get it out and we had to order out our Thanksgiving dinner. It still get brought up every year.

Ah, I’ve always loved Thanksgiving.. But last year was the first year that we spent Thanksgiving with my mom’s side of the family.. I think this was the worst — they used Tofu instead of turky, didn’t have deviled eggs, nor pumpkin pie — the 3 things that i love best!

My favorite memory of Thanksgiving repeats itself every year and is my mama’s side of the family gets together and we spend time together and of course eat and eat..lol. PS> Your mashed potatoes sound great. I had never thought about trying mayo in them. My mama experiments sometimes and she has put sour cream and cottage cheese in mash potatoes and believe it or not, the time she added the cottage cheese tasted great especially. 🙂
One year we had Thanksgiving at my aunt and uncle’s. I don’t remember the food but I remember how nice the weather was and we all went out in their yard to have family pictures taken.

I LOVE sweet potato casserole! And I found a really good recipe a few years ago on All Recipes.com, but now I’m not sure which it was. I just have it scribbled down on a piece of paper somewhere…
Also, dressing is another favorite Thanksgiving dish – I love to eat the leftovers of it for days. 🙂
This didn’t happen to me, but I plan on doing it to my daughter on her first Thanksgiving.
I want to sneak a tiny cornish hen into her turkey before she starts cooking, so when she takes out the turkey from the oven, and gets all the stuffing out of the inside, when she finds the tiny bird I can tell her… “OH NO! That bird was pregnant… you cooked the baby”
Hehehe…. I dont’ know if she will find it as funny as I do, but either way.. it’s funny to me 🙂

I’ll never forget the year I saw a new recipe for sweet potatoes on tv and decided to try it. The announcer said it was his mom’s signature dish and that everyone rants and raves about it. I read through the ingredients and it all sounded great so I decided to try it. Well everyone still rants and raves about how awful my sweet potatoes were the year that I tried that recipe. I went back to my fresh cooked sweeted potatoes, that I top with with marshmallows and toast for a few minutes and everyone is much happier.

MY favorite reciepe would be my baked beans that I only make on special occasion,it takes 3 cans of Van Camp porknbeans 15oz size,1 lb of cooked ground beef with a large chopped onion cooked with it,drain greese,put all in a baking dish,stir in half cup brown sugar,3 tablespoons Whorshire sause,2 tablespoon yellow mustard,half cup ketchup,add all together an bake in oven at 375 for 1 hour.an is too good for words

My favorite Thanksgiving memory was actually last Thanksgiving. My husband’s entire family was able to get together at a beach house. It was warm, we had delicious food, and we were all able to spend the week together. It was amazing!

I had a blooper the time I was still learning to cook and I accidentally dumped a whole container of sage into the stuffing mix. Since I personally love the taste of sage in dressing, I figured it couldn’t be all bad… Wrong! It was AWFUL!! But everyone was too polite to say anything. I even noticed a couple of guests scrambling their food all up on the plate so it wouldn’t be so obvious they hadn’t eaten any of the dressing. 🙂

The first (and last) time I cooked a turkey for my parents it was not fully cooked. We had to eat everything else while waiting for the turkey to finish cooking. Since my son hates turkey, we switched to chickens.

One thanksgiving my father was lighting the candles on the table and got a little carried away and accidentally set the dried flower arrangement on fire
I always like this Thanksgiving side dish:
Sweet Potato Surprise
CASSEROLE
4 sweet potatoes, baked and mashed
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup margarine, melted
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
TOPPING
1 cup grated unsweetened coconut, dried or fresh
1 cup pecans
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup margarine
Instructions:
Heat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, mix the sweet potatoes, sugar, margarine, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined. Transfer the mixture into a 2 1/2-quart baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine the topping ingredients with a pastry cutter or your fingertips until crumbly. Distribute the topping over the sweet potatoes. Then bake the casserole for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Serves 6 to 8.

My favorite Tday recipe is my mother’s cranberry relish. Grind one bag of cranberries, 2 apples (cored, but you don’t need to peel), 2 seedless oranges (peels ‘n all!). Mix together. Add sugar to taste. Refrigerate and serve.
I was hosting my first Thanksgiving at my house and I had thought I had set the oven to turn on at a specific time to start roasting the turkey. My husband and I had gone to the high school football game and I kept thinking about how the house would smell when we finally got home. Walking through the door, ready for the wonderful aroma, only to be greeted to absolutely nothing! I had set the timer wrong! and now our dinner would have to wait another 2 hours!! Thank goodness everyone that was coming over found great humor in my mistake and we ended up playing some games and watching football on tv while the turkey was cooking!!!

When I was little we used to go to grandmas for thanksgiving dinner. Grandma would roast the turkey in the oven and grandpa would either smoke the turkey or deep fry the turkey. They would always compete to see who had the best turkey. No matter what I always sided with grandpa. No wonder I was grandpas favorite.
Here is a bad blooper. I backed up into my mother’s wall oven on Thanksgving day and burned oven door marks into my arm. I still have two faint line scars.

1 yr it was my turn to host Thanksgiving. I stuffed the turkey like usual with plastic gloves I never thought to look inside for some bag with gutts or whatever and I cooked them in there with the stuffing we found it when we were cleaning it out putting the stuffing in a bowl. MY MOTHER was like what the…and laughed for over an hour! Geeez

Back when my husband and I were dating, I went with him to his Aunt’s house for Thanksgiving. This was the first year she was in charge of it. Well, it was time to eat and she pulled the turkey out of the over…and it was STONE COLD! She put the turkey in frozen and then forgot to turn the oven on..don’t quite know how that happened, but it did! So we had Thanksgiving…without a turkey! She’s still teased by it!

My favorite memory is the first time I got to help with the cooking around age 9. I made the mashed potatoes and I was so nervous I would mess them up and so proud when I brought them to the table!

My favorite recipe is my very simple asparagus or green bean dish. (Works really well with both veggies.) Just saute the veggies in a little walnut oil, add walnuts and a little kosher salt at the end, and enjoy!

The one time I tried to cook a turkey I didn’t realize there was a bag inside with the organs until I smelled plastic burning. oops
I remember my grandma overcooking a pecan pie and then the dog wouldn’t even eat it 🙂
I had my parents over for the first turkey I had ever made. I didn’t know they hid the giblets in the neck area and my dad found them when he started to carve the turkey! Surprise! Surprise!
I my remember Great Grandma making a lemon meringue pie that had plenty of lemon seeds… it still tasted great. You just had to be careful on what you swallowed…
My fav. Thanksgiving recipe is Green bean casserole!
