Why Can’t We Be Friends?
I have avoided the drama in the blogosphere overall – up until this point. I really feel like something needs to be said. We are all (or are supposed to be) grown-ups. In high school, there were clicks, girl fights, pulling hair, name calling, gossipping, etc., etc., etc. When you graduate from high school, there is suppose to be a magical thing that happens – you grow up and act like an adult and role model!
I grew up with divorced parents and they really didn’t like one another (even after the divorce). I constantly felt like I had to choose sides. If I wanted to spend time with one parent, then the other parent might feel bad. If I didn’t stand by one parent in defense to the other parent, they might feel bad. I felt like I was constantly having to choose sides. I’m an adult now and will NOT be doing this with other adults.
I am friendly to a few individuals who would appear they are at war with one another. Mean and hurtful words are being thrown out in the blogosphere, names discredited, blogs discredited, individuals being turned away from groups because they associate with specific individuals.
I choose to get to know people for myself on an individual basis. I don’t immediately discredit people if they hang out with a certain group of people. I email these people, comment on their posts, and try to maintain a friendly correspondence with them. I get to know them. If they burn me online (which has happened), I choose to have nothing to do with them. I don’t visit their blogs. I don’t leave them comments. I don’t email them. It was their choice to burn me and I choose to stay away from them. I am much happier this way.
It saddens me when to see these grown-ups bashing one another. Do people not realize that kids and teenagers might be reading their blogs? Do we as women (and men), moms (and dads) not realize that we are acting as examples and role models to these children and teens? Would we want our kids acting this way?
Why can’t we all just be nice to each other and get along? Stop the name calling. Stop the slandering. Just be nice! It takes so much less energy to smile at someone, leave a nice comment, or reply with a friendly email. If somebody burns you, simply stay away from them to prevent being burned again.
That’s all I’m going to say about the drama. Free hugs to everyone!
There is no video, just the song. It’s a great song though!
Great post!
SO true! I try to stay in my little corner of blog world and stay out of the drama! There is a ton of it going on and I don’t want to get caught up in it and I’m not choosing sides!
ooooh PREECH SITSA!! I agree to the umpteenth percent…
Yes there have been some nasty things going around recently. The best bet is to take the high road and keep your nose clean. It really isn’t anyone’s business what happens in private personal family matters and whoever is smearing others needs therapy.
