We go through about 25-30 apples a week in our household of 5 people. The kids eat 2-3 apples a day and my husband eats 2 apples a day. When we lived in Utah, I remember paying about $0.79 a pound when they went on sale. In California, I could buy them for $0.99 a pound on sale. I figured, hey, they grow a lot of the apples in Washington, maybe it will be less expensive there. WRONG!!!

On average, I can buy apples for $1.49 a pound (when they are on sale). Otherwise, I pay about $1.99 a pound regular price. That’s about $12.00 for 6 apples. YIKES! I recently found a great deal on apples at Costco. You get 16 (I believe) for $6.50. Not bad!

However, this week, at Safeway, I found apples on sale for $0.88 per pound. WOWZAS! I bought 2 huge bags filled with them! I’ll definitely be stopping by before the sale ends on Tuesday to stock up.

P.S. Did you know that if you keep a cup of water in your apple drawer, it will keep the apples fresher longer? I learned this tip at an apple farm in California!
