I had never seen “Olivia” before, so I was excited to have the opportunity to review it. My kids enjoyed it and I found it entertaining as well! Paramount Home Entertainment released “Olivia” on DVD on August 11, 2009.

This is the first in an all-new DVD release from Nickelodeon/Nick Jr. Olivia is a 6 ¾ year-old dynamo with a can-do attitude and very vivid imagination. The DVD features four new-to-DVD episodes, as well as a still-art gallery. Your preschoolers will love to tag along with Olivia as she goes on fun adventures – from a cat detective to a star of her school play and more!

The four episodes on this disc include “Olivia Acts Out,” “Olivia Plays Piano,” “Olivia Trains Her Cat,” and “Olivia Packs Up.” In “Olivia Acts Out,” Olivia is stuck playing the part of Cow #2 in the annual school play, while Francine has the starring role. Olivia must make the most of her small part and with a little help from Julian, she choreographs a climatic “moove” for herself and has the crowd on their feet! In “Olivia Plays the Piano,” Olivia sees herself as a great concert pianist, although her piano teacher thinks she needs more practice. When her little brother Ian begins taking his own piano lessons, and turns out to be pretty good, Olivia isn’t sure if there’s room for 2 great players in the families. In “Olivia Trains Her Cat,” Olivia’s class holds a pet talent show. Nobody can beat Francine’s amazingly talent cat Gwendolyn and Olivia’s lethargic cat Edwin, who barely moves, suddenly goes missing. Olivia then fancies herself a cat detective as she tracks down the missing cat. In “Olivia Packs Up,” Olivia becomes tired of having to share everything with her brother Ian. She sets out on a trip around the block in search of a place free from little brothers. She imagines herself crossing a vast desert by camel, which isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and decides that having a little brother might not be as bad as she thought.
