Life as a Real Mom!

OK, so I’m going to take a minute to vent. I’m getting so tired of reading the chocolate covered, sugar coated memoirs of so many moms out there (sometimes myself included). My head hurts so bad right now and with every LOUD and obnoxious cry that comes from my tired 3 year old, it gets worse. I love my kids, I really do. But sometimes, they really try my patience.

Nowhere in my blog or in my life do I claim to be a perfect mom. I KNOW that I’m not even close to being a perfect mom. I do know that I try hard to be a GOOD mom, but feel like I am constantly failing at that. I feel guilty at times when I go to bed, praying that I’ll do a better job the next day.

I yell at my kids at times, I cry in my room when I just don’t know what to do, and I do put them in their rooms to cool off. I have people tell me, “Nanny 911 said to do this” or “Super Nanny said to do that.” HELLO! They are strangers in the kids’ homes. Of course they are going to listen to them. I want to know how people deal with things in real life!

I put my kids in their room to “cool off” so that the other 4 people in the house don’t have to listen to their loud crying and screaming. When the child is ready to calm down and act nice, he can come out. I don’t wash their mouths out or whip them with the belt (like I remember from when I was a kid).

Moral of the story – I am not a perfect mom but do bust my hump to be a good mom. Thanks for letting me take a moment to vent!

So true and what I really appreciate about your blog is your sincerity. I get frustrated when I read other mom’s blogs that make them sound like Superwoman with parenting as their specialty. I never thought I’d be a mom but I love it. However as someone that used to be a Regional Manager for an event marketing company with about 30 people under me, there are days when I wonder “why is motherhood so much harder than my old job?”
