At Mama’s Losin’ It, each week there is a Writer’s Workshop (you choose a topic to write on). It’s a lot of fun and I’ve met a lot of people this way!

The Prompts:

1.) Describe a moment when you realized you and your spouse were SO different.

2.) What is your role in the household?

3.) Write about how you felt when you discovered you were lied to.

4.) Describe a hard time you gave a teacher…what would you say to them today?

5.) What is an unpleasant experience you had eating? Write a poem, paragraph, or something else about the experience.

I chose to write on a hard time I gave a teacher and what I would say to them today.

It was a day when we were playing softball during PE (back in elementary school). It was my turn to hit the ball. I was not (and am still not) very athletic – I believe the term is “athletically-challenged.” I had missed the last 2 swings and had one chance left. The instructor said teasingly, “Come on Shannon….you know girls can’t play softball.” I was INSPIRED! I swung with all my might. I didn’t hit the ball very far, but I did just happen to hit it at just the right angle to where it tagged the teacher right in his manhood. Oops! I felt like time stood still. The coach was bent over holding on for dear life with the look of pain on his face. I didn’t know what to do! Am I supposed to go over and ask if he’s ok? Am I supposed to run to first base and then second and so on? All of a sudden, a shouting broke the silence, “Run Shannon…run! Run to first base!” I made it to second base and the instructor threw the ball. I was safe! After class I apologized and said it was an accident. Thank goodness he knew I wasn’t a pro-softball player or even on a team, or he might have thought I did it on purpose. I don’t know why, but I have a feeling he never said that again (even teasing).

If I saw him today, I don’t think I would bring it up. It was probably a VERY painful experience for him – not one he’d like to rehash – LOL.
