I didn’t really have birthday parties as a kid, so the first big party I’d been a major part of was my son’s first birthday last August. It was simple, but fun!

I have so many fond memories of my birthday parties when I was a kid… my mum did them “the old fashioned” way – balloons on the mailbox, pass the parcel, pin the tail, hiding candy in the backyard, BBQs, treat bags etc. We never had “event” parties or expensive parties, but they were FUN. And now that I am in my 20’s my friends still occasionally mention how fun my mum made those parties!

With my own littles now the pressure is on!!

One time my four year old was giving the clown we hired a hard time over I don’t even remember what. Another time we had a graduation party and the 3rd son was teasing the 4th son and when he missed hitting the pinata my husband had to carry the youngest one in who was throwing a temper tantrum of a lifetime.
