Sam…..The Thumb Sucker

Both Brian and Dallen took a binkie or pacifier when they were babies. Brian took it for 6 months and was done with it. Dallen took it for 3 months and was done it. Sam wants NOTHING to do with it. He actually gets mad if I even offer it to him. George was able to get him to take it a couple of times, but otherwise, he won’t take it.

He’s learned to comfort himself by sucking his thumb. Many people say, “Don’t do that…he’ll have to have braces.” Well, the fact is that he’ll probably have to have braces anyways (I had to have them). Why not let him comfort himself instead of feeling he has to suck on me all the time (aka nursing even though he’s not nursing). He’s learning to pacify himself. Please don’t get me wrong, I love nursing him. Breastfeeding gives mothers an opportunity to bond with their babies like nobody else can. It’s just that I’m there for him to eat not to use me as a pacifier.

Sam is such a goofball he even tries to put his whole fist in his mouth! What a funny baby!
